Yet another post for today, since I'm trying to accumulate posts. On Saturday, Sunday, and possibly Monday I probably won't post since I have a volleyball tournament on each of those days. Sorry.
Anyways, this post is on blogging! Specifically, Animal Jam blogging. I'll try not to make it super in-depth, because that's not the point. The point is short little tips and tricks, hence the name Blogging Tips and Tricks. I'll teach you a little bit about the gadgets and gizmos in Blogger, as well as some other little tricks HTML-related, etc.
-- Let's start :D --
The Part About Posts and Expanding Your Blog :3
Tip 1: Post things that are interesting, and more than just the daily item.
- Posting the daily item is fine, but just do something else every once in a while. For example:
- Find glitches or some sort of Easter egg. Point it out, or even open it up for discussion.
- Do your own reviews of things. Talk about the new updates and what you think about each and every one of them (don't just say "I think they're cool!," state your honest opinion on it)
- Thinking along the same lines as the reviews ^, do things like contests, epic dens, giveaways, AJMV Features, etc.
- Post stories (like those from the Animal Jam Spirit, write guides for clans, adoptions, dens, blogging, graphics, etc.
- Anything else, but just make it interesting.
Be sure to use proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling in your posts. If not, it makes your blog seem very unprofessional, sometimes. If you're not sure how to spell a word, there's spell check on Blogger. For grammar and punctuation, be like Nike and just do it. :)
Tip 3: Get your audience engaged, and get your blog out there!
In each post, open up something for discussion. Ask for your audience's opinions, and just get them commenting and being active. Sometimes it might take a good contest or giveaway to get them talking, so do what you must. Haha, just kidding ^.^ but seriously. Get them engaged.
To get your blog out there, don't just go into a random blog (or into Animal Jam itself) and starting saying something like this:
"hey jammers go check out my blog and follow it and comment and send me rares my username is puppy555 pretty plsplspls!!!!111111!!!!
Whatever you do, don't do that.
Instead:
- Go and comment once (no spam) and ask the blog owner if they could add you to their blog list. That isn't the same as the bad example above, and it's totally ok!
- Comment on different blogs! Don't comment what I put in the bad example, but it can literally be something like "Nice post," and just comment on a bunch of blogs. That way, people might start to notice you, and you have more chances of having someone check your blog out!
Some Other Tutorials Involving Gadgets, etc.
How to get a custom cursor:A custom cursor can look really neat, especially if it goes with the "theme" of your blog. (For an example of a custom cursor, just look at my blog!) Here is how you can get one of those cursors for yourself.
- Go to this website (cursors4u), which provides with tons of custom cursors for the Blogger platform. There, you can just scroll and find a cursor you like.
- Once you find one, click on it and it'll pull up a page with a text box with a bunch of HTML gibberish. Copy that HTML code.
- Go to your Blogger. Then, click on Template > Edit HTML.
- Once you're in the HTML thing, hit "COMMAND (or CTRL) and F at the same time. Using this, you can search for a specific word in that massive ocean of HTML stuffs. In the little search box that appears, type in </head>
- Once you find </head> , paste in that code you copied RIGHT BEFORE </head>Save and refresh your blog, you should now have your very own custom cursor!
Falling objects are really cool for seasonal things, etc. If you're wondering what falling objects are, look at my blog. At the top, you'll see little bits of snow falling from the top of the blog. That's what falling objects are, and I'll teach you how to get one for your blog!
- Go to this site, and find one you'd like.
- Just follow the instructions given from there!
Want rainbow links just like the ones on my blog? I would recommend this website , and you can also follow the instructions given on their website!
Music player (link):
Ever wanted a cool music player to play your favorite tunes onto your blog, like mine? 2 links you can use are Soundcloud or Wikiplayer (sorrry no link, but you can Google it!)
---------------------------------------------------
Phew, that's a lot! Hopefully, though, by now your blog will be looking glamorous, almost as glamorous as mine ;)
Be sure to comment and let me know if you have any problems with any of these, or if you would like me to add things, and I'll try to help you as soon as I can!
